Dining in the Florida Keys

The Florida Keys offer a fantastic variety of restaurants, from American to International in settings from casual to upscale and everything in-between. You’ll definitely find food to please everyone’s palate. But the Keys’ spectacular location puts seafood and Caribbean fare at the center of the cuisine.

To fully experience dining in the Florida Keys, make sure to try some of the Islands’ popular treats.

Sweet and delicious Stone Crab Claws (in season from October 15 – May 15) and are yummy hot or cold.

Conch (“konk”) a large mollusk with an iconic pink shell, is made into distinctive conch steaks, conch fritters, conch chowder, and conch salad. Florida Lobster (in season August – April ) is easier to eat than Maine lobster and has a wide tail filled with crisp, sweet, pearl-white meat. Be sure to try your restaurant’s Catch Of The Day, usually Yellowtail, Snapper, Grouper, Yellowfin Tuna or Dolphin or Mahi-mahi (no, it’s not Flipper; this is the fish, not the mammal. Key West Pink Shrimp, luscious and in season during the cooler months.

And you can’t skip this desert: famous, authentic Key Lime Pie, made from the small, yellow, tart key limes.
